The Meetery Eatery Inc. was formed on July 1, 2003 by the 50/50 partnership of Maurice Young and Jerry Brown. The cousins have dedicated the business to the memory of Jerry’s deceased brother Gary Brown, who was the co-founder of B&B Restaurants, Inc. Gary was an expert in the restaurant industry and used his expertise to give them an entry into the business. After 3 very successful years in the restaurant industry, the cousins were prepared to take on this new venture. The cousins are a shining example of what two Detroit-natives with a strong work ethic and pride in a job well done can accomplish.

The Meetery Eatery concept was inspired by growing trends in the marketplace, as well as, the energy surrounding the resurgence of the city of Detroit. After several meetings, visits to cafes, and visits to delis, the cousins decided that they could pull together these two types of restaurant styles along with their computer backgrounds to provide a unique multi-concept restaurant experience.

The evolution of this restaurant was a challenge due to the extensive research and coordination of several projects, which were detrimental to the success of the restaurant opening. However, through the help of friends, family and the patience of their committed wives, they were able to complete the restaurant in less than 3 months.

The restaurant is now owned and operated by Jerry and Sonya Brown. They have made lots of subtle changes to the menu and atmosphere for the purpose of enhancing the overall customer experience. They have developed new relationships with Avalon International Bread, Wayne State University, and the College of Creative studies, which have allowed them to further mold the restaurant to fit the needs of its unique customer-base in Detroit's Cultural Center

The Meetery Eatery will be a major contributor of both time and money to Detroit; sponsoring a number of non-profit organizations and providing food to the hundreds of participants in a variety of Charity events. The Detroit couple looks forward to providing the great people of this area, great tasting food in a comfortable retro-styled ambience for years to come. Over the next year, look for expansion locations with a consistent customer experience.
